News of The Pontiac Promise Zone

The Pontiac Promise Zone

is a program that enables students living within the Pontiac School District to obtain financial assistance to attend any college or university in Michigan and to earn a two year associate degree. If sufficient funding is raised, the program will be expanded to support students through their bachelor’s degree.

How is a student’s eligibility determined?

To qualify for Promise Zone financial assistance a student must:
  • • Graduate and receive a diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from one of the eligible secondary schools
  • • Meet specified residency requirements
  • • Gain admission to a public or private post-secondary educational institution accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
  • • Complete the Free Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) and demonstrate that they have exhausted all other grants for tuition and fees available through federal, state and local governments, including the Federal Pell Grant Program.
