2026-2027 Scholarship details

How the Pontiac Promise Zone can help you or your student!

The longer an applicant has attended schools in the Pontiac School District Boundary Area, the greater the financial support we can offer. Please see the charts for specific amounts that you are eligible for based on how long you have attended one of our target schools and lived within the district.

Note: All qualifying students are also eligible for up to $400 per semester for book reimbursement. This amount is offered even if the student does not receive the tuition scholarship. The PPZ scholarship is for tuition and fees only, and cannot be used toward other educational expenses such as room and board.

Are books covered?

We have $500.00 for book reimbursement per semester, not to exceed $1000.00 per year.

Can I receive book reimbursement even if I don't qualify for tuition assistance?

YES! We have $500.00 for book reimbursement per semester, even if you do not qualify for other tuition assistance.

Are room and board part of the scholarship assistance?

Yes, the Pontiac Promise Zone under new legislation is able to support the full cost of tuition; however, tuition costs are the priority.

If I go back to school and get a GED certificate. Am I qualified for the Pontiac Promise Zone?

YES! We have up to $8,750 per year in financial assistance and we also have $500.00 for book reimbursement per semester. To qualify, you must receive your GED certificate from a Pontiac School District school. See the above listing.

Do payments for tuition or full cost of attendance go to the student?

No, tuition payments do not go directly to students. The payments go directly to the schools. Reimbursements, however, with proof of payment receipts, can go directly to students after submitting an application.
